Forest School: Dressing Your Child for All Weather
Welcome to our Forest School! Ensuring your child is properly dressed for all weather conditions is key to their comfort, safety, and enjoyment. Below is a comprehensive guide to help you prepare your child for a great outdoor experience.
General Principles
- Layering: Dress your child in multiple layers that can be added or removed as needed. Avoid cotton (cotton stays wet) and use natural materials like wool and synthetic materials. Long sleeve wool thermals (long johns) are great. Use moisture-wicking materials whenever possible.
- Comfort: Ensure that clothing is comfortable and allows for free movement.
- Durability: Choose sturdy, durable clothing that can withstand rough play and outdoor activities.
- Safety: Avoid loose strings or drawstrings that could get caught on branches or equipment.
-
Buy Used if Possible: Check facebook marketplace, poshmark, mecari, thrift stores, etc.
